4 Week Creative Coping Series
September 23 | 10:00 am - 11:15 am
An event every week that begins at 10:00 am on Wednesday, repeating until September 30, 2020
This 4-week series meets weekly for an hour and 15 minutes and is a great way to bring a bit of structure to your self-care routine in ways that keep us creative, connected, but still safe and socially distant. Sign up on your own to meet new (masked!) faces, or attend with someone else!
Like most things, establishing a regular practice to attend to our health improves our ability to see and feel changes in ourselves. Carve out consistent time each week to create, cope, and reflect, with the benefit of doing it in a community (and outside your own house)! Each week we’ll explore a new art material or process designed to help you relax while keeping your mind engaged and absorbed, develop and recognize your own creative strengths, access inspiration, and gain insight on themes connected to your daily life.
Masks will be required for the entire time we are in the studio, and sanitized materials will be laid out ahead of your arrival. We’re filing everyone into class directly to your seats, and tables are spaced a minimum of 7 feet from each other. No more than 8 participants will be permitted to register.
*Please note: We do have backup plans if classes cannot continue to be held in the studio!*
Class 1- Ink Drag: Gain insight on what “go with the flow” means for you with ink and markers through creative meditation.
Class 2-Torn Paper Landscape: Relax with the stress-reducing process of tearing paper and creating organic images of nature.
Class 3- Chalk Pastel: Sink into the satisfying sensory experience of blending, smudging, and making crisp marks with bright chalk pastels on black pastel paper, to feel both relaxed and reinvigorated.
Class 4- Pipe Cleaner Portrait/Sculpture: Connect with your sources of humor and joy, while working with these fuzzy wires and beads to investigate whimsy and 3-D form in portraiture.
