Anna Duvall is a multimedia artist, specializing in art influenced by social media. According to her, “if the Mona Lisa had been painted today, she’d be pictured facing a mirror with an iPhone in her hand.”
In her paintings, Anna uses acrylic on found wood, with accents of spray paint, nail polish, and fake diamonds. In her drawings, Anna draws in colored pencil and markers and then mounts the drawings on wood. She covers the finished paintings and drawings with heavy gloss, which creates her signature style.
Anna grew up in Maui, Hawaii, where she learned to paint. She attended California College of Arts and Crafts and earned a B.F.A. in multimedia design from the University of Oregon. In addition to painting, she designs tap handle art for Boneyard Beer in Bend, Oregon. She refers to herself as a professional cocktail waitress with a bad painting habit.
Anna Duvall’s exhibit runs between April 5 and April 30, 2018, at the Art Institute of Portland. The opening is on April 5, 2018, between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
