Comics of Tomorrow – An evening with The Pander Brothers
Interactive Comics Creators discuss The making of “The Dissident” and Transmedia digital comics.
Wacom welcomes filmmaker and graphic novelists the Pander Brothers for a night of digital comics art. The sibling creative duo are known for “Batman: City of Light”, “GirlFIEND”, “Tasty Bullet”, “XXX”, “Accelerate” and the Eisner Award nominated “Grendel: Devil’s Legacy”. The brothers’ music videos have appeared on MTV and their award winning motion Picture, Selfless is currently showing on Comcast Streampix through June 2017.
Called “Portland’s original comics provocateurs” by Willamette Week, Jacob and Arnold Pander present their latest graphic novel project, “THE DISSIDENT”, an exclusive online daily digital comic set in the near future about a journalist with a photographic memory who must escape an oppressive system that uses social media to control its citizens.
Wacom will screen a short documentary about the making of The Dissident and Pander’s will discuss their journey of creating The Dissident, transmedia digital comics and their collaborative process, and welcome audience Q&A.

PANDER BROS. BIO
Jacob and Arnold Pander are graphic novelists and filmmakers who write and direct feature films, branded content and music videos. Their award winning films have played in festivals around the globe and their music videos have been featured on MTV.
The Pander brothers’ published works includes the titles Batman: City of Light and Batman: Apocalypse Girl – as well as 63 other comics and four graphic novels for such major publishers as Marvel, DC, Image and Dark Horse Comics who in 2015, published their critically acclaimed graphic novel, GirlFIEND, called “ a visual feast” by CBR (Comic Book Resources).
The brothers recently launched their digital comics imprint FUSEComics.Com, fusing a myriad of mediums – film, music, social media and comics – to extend the storytelling experience. Their transmedia comics include, “Secret Broadcast” which includes an original soundtrack on iTunes; ”Tasty Bullet” a graphic novel with an extended online story-world on multiple websites and companion conspiracy theory web series; and out now, “The Dissident”, a daily webcomic with Google Maps hotlines links to street view locations in the story.
Called “a power duo of creativity” by SOMA Magazine, the Pander’s also produce and direct feature films, shorts and commercials through their production company, Collaborator Studios. The brothers’ award-winning debut feature film, “Selfless,” starring Mo Gallini (2 Fast 2 Furious, End Of Days) premiered at the 2009 ComicCon International in San Diego. Among other honors, their collaborative and individual film and video work has been featured on MTV, screened at the prestigious London Institute for Contemporary Art, taken top prizes at the New York and Chicago Underground Film Festivals, and toured Europe and Japan. Their fashion-centric artwork was featured on America’s Next Top Model and the brothers recently guest hosted the web series, “The Comics Trip”, for the ComicCon HQ channel.
